So, Apple has today announced larger capacity models of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The 16Gb iPhone is priced at $100 more than the 8Gb at $499, and the 32Gb Touch comes in at $100 more than the 16Gb Touch, also $499.
Now, I myself would contend that actually 8Gb should be enough for anyone – I have an 8Gb iPhone here on my desk that, while full, has around 16 hours of podcasts, 6 albums of music and 14 hours of video before I have watched/listened to everything – but I appreciate that some are not as organised as me, or have difficulties making decisions such that they cannot decide what to load on their iPod. For such people larger capacities make some sense, I suppose.
(By the way, if you can’t make a choice when sat at your Mac, how does that choice get made easier when sat at the point of listen/watch with the device in your hand??? But I digress.)
However, I am sure that small but vocal contingent of professional Apple whiners will be revving up tonight, once the news hits them:
Whhhhyyyyyy isn’t it 64gb?
Whhhyyyyyyy isn’t it cheaper?
Whhhyyyyyyy isn’t it 3G instead of larger capacity?
Whhhyyyyyyy is the battery still not removable?
This group are still flushed with success, having come fresh from a two week whine on the MacBook Air. Truly, what could be more sporting than barracking Apple for YEARS to deliver a particular product (like a subnotebook) and then WHIIIIIINNNIIING about every feature deletion Apple made to deliver a subnotebook. Top entertainment.
Let the festivities (re)commence!
