More info on the credit:
Apple posted the details today for obtaining your credit for purchasing the iPhone before this month’s price cut. These people can get a $100 store credit I guess Apple wanted to soothe anyone who believed they were screwed because Apple lowered the price too soon. Go to Apple site Bill posted above and confirm your eligibility with serial and phone numbers. You will receive a text message containing an access code that you enter that on the site and then you will have your $100 credit to play with.
But this part really sucks you can’t use your credit at the iTunes Store!
Also, do not wait too long, as if you’re eligible, the offer is scheduled to end on Nov. 30.

Basically, if you bought from an Apple store in the last two weeks, you can most likely get $200 back. “Apple … has a policy to refund the difference to customers who bought a product within 14 days of a price drop.” Lucky you.
If you bought before that, you can get a $100 Apple store credit, some restrictions apply.
Personally, giving $100 back to people who stood in line and HAD TO HAVE this phone on day one I think is not right. There is a price for early adaption, and an even higher one for having to have it on day one!
Ask yourself, if Apple said on that first day, you can pay $600+ now or save $200 in two months, how many of you would have waited? If you answered no, I would not have waited, then you are the person who should not get the rebate either. And I suspect, if you waited in line on day one, you probably would have answered no anyway, because you had to have it! YOU REALLY WANTED IT BADLY!
Well, that is just my opinion, and lucky for all of you early adopters, Apple feels differently. So do not feel too bad, your iPhone just dropped in price by $100!
Update: Now I hear already that people are calling Apple to complain. Yes, you heard it, complain that they are getting a $100 credit. Seems some of these people believe that $100 will not buy much at the Apple store, and is just a trick to get people to spend even more money using the $100 as a down payment so to speak. The cry is that this is just an Apple trick to get you to spend even more money! Apple wanting you to spend more money? Really, surely you jest?
Give me a F*&^*^ng break please! You buy an expensive phone. What a surprise, the price drops. You gripe about a price drop, like no one saw that coming, crying like babies that you got ripped off. Hey, guess what, prices drop! OK, maybe it dropped sooner than expected, but remember, you HAD TO HAVE THIS THING NOW, be first to get it, did not care about the price, etc, etc. Remember all those questions people kept saying about how expensive it was? But hey, Apple was generous and offered a partial refund on the price. Personally, I think it is very cool and completely unnecessary. Cool company, eh? But now some of you gripe that a $100 credit is a bad thing and ripping you off more!
Here is an idea, if you do not want it, send it to us at MyMac.com. I am sure we can find a way to spend it for you, saving you all that money you would have to spend to use a $100 credit.
